Dynamiq vs StackAI
StackAI, now part of Asana, is a closed, no-code enterprise agent builder with VPC and on-prem options. Dynamiq adds an open-source SDK and voice agents on one engine.
By Maria-Elena Tzanev, AI strategy Updated
In short
StackAI, now part of Asana and still run as its own product, is a closed, drag-and-drop platform for IT and operations teams to build, govern and scale agents, with deployment from multi-tenant cloud to air-gapped on-premises, 300+ integrations, and forward-deployed engineers who co-build weekly with every enterprise customer. Dynamiq covers the same deployment depth on a governed platform that also includes inbound voice agents, an Apache-2.0 open-source SDK for teams that build in code, and real-time evaluations on live deployments. IT teams that want a no-code builder with hands-on support fit StackAI; teams that also need voice agents, an open-source engine or evals on live traffic fit Dynamiq.

DynamiqYes. Self-hosted on your cloud or on-prem, or Dynamiq Cloud; both run the same engine.
StackAIYes. On-premises and virtual private cloud deployment are Enterprise features, per StackAI's pricing page, and existing deployments continue unchanged after the Asana acquisition, per its announcement.
- License and source code
DynamiqThe Python SDK is open source under Apache-2.0 (github.com/dynamiq-ai/dynamiq), and the visual canvas runs on the same engine. The platform around it is not open source.
StackAIClosed source; StackAI's GitHub organization has no public repositories, and no SDK is published.
- Model choice
Dynamiq29 model providers in the SDK, the most-used models behind one OpenAI-compatible AI Gateway endpoint, plus open models served on vLLM and LoRA fine-tuning.
StackAIModel-agnostic: providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and AWS Bedrock, models hosted on Azure or Bedrock, and local LLMs, with admins able to turn off StackAI-provided keys or block providers.
- Agent types (chat, voice, workflow)
DynamiqChat, inbound voice and workflow agents on one engine. AI Coworker works with its own cloud sandbox computer, in the browser, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram; Voice Agents answer inbound calls; Agent Builder runs workflow agents.
StackAIAgents and workflows, including Multi-Agent Teams (September 2026), delivered as forms, chat assistants, website chatbots, batch runs, APIs, and apps in Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp or SMS. Audio nodes transcribe and generate speech, but no real-time voice agent is offered.
- Developer surface
DynamiqAgent Builder pairs a visual canvas with the open-source Python SDK on one engine, with Choice and rules nodes, workflows generated from a prompt, and versions with rollback.
StackAIA drag-and-drop builder with Python code and custom API nodes, a REST API, an MCP server for assistants such as Claude and Cursor, MCP client nodes, and JSON project export; no general-purpose SDK is published.
- Governance (guardrails, approvals, SSO)
DynamiqGuardrails that detect PII and prompt injection, policy detection, validators and approvals with editable fields on any tool step, on every plan; SSO (OIDC with Okta and Microsoft Entra ID) on Enterprise.
StackAIPII detection and masking, retention controls, admin review before a project is published with version history and diffs, human-in-the-loop approval nodes, SSO with Okta or Entra ID, SAML, SCIM, RBAC and audit logs; DPAs keep customer data out of model training.
- Evals and observability
DynamiqEvals with datasets built from traces, LLM-as-a-judge, predefined and code metrics, and real-time evaluations on live deployments; traces with cost and latency per node, monitoring, and an AI agent that surfaces issues from production traces.
StackAIAn Evaluator that scores a test set with LLM-as-a-judge before a project goes live, plus analytics on usage, latency, tokens and users, run history and per-step traces.
- Integrations
Dynamiq2,100+ app integrations and 11,800+ actions, plus MCP servers and per-user connections.

StackAIForward-deployed engineers lead weekly co-building sessions with every enterprise customer, alongside dedicated solution engineers, per StackAI's docs and pricing page.
- Pricing model
DynamiqFree to start ($0), and Enterprise with custom pricing. Available on AWS Marketplace, Microsoft Azure Marketplace and IBM Marketplace.
StackAIA free plan at $0 a month (500 runs, 2 projects, 1 seat), and custom Enterprise pricing with on-prem or VPC deployment, dedicated infrastructure, solution engineers and SSO, per StackAI's pricing page.
Choose Dynamiq when
- The agent engine is an open-source Python SDK under Apache-2.0, with the visual canvas on the same engine, so developers can build in code and read what their agents run on.
- Voice Agents answer inbound calls over WebRTC, SIP and WebSocket on the same engine as chat and workflow agents.
- Real-time evaluations on live deployments and an AI agent that surfaces issues from production traces, not only tests before launch.
- AI Coworker works with its own cloud sandbox in the browser, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram.
Choose StackAI when
- A drag-and-drop, no-code builder aimed at IT and operations teams standing up agents across many business units.
- Forward-deployed engineers who co-build weekly with every enterprise customer, plus dedicated solution engineers.
- 300+ integrations in a public catalog, and four deployment models up to air-gapped on-premises.
Moving from StackAI
Agents and workflows built on StackAI's canvas export as JSON, which gives a map for rebuilding them as agents and workflows in Dynamiq's Agent Builder, on the canvas or in the Python SDK. Integrations reconnect as Dynamiq integrations or MCP servers, knowledge bases move to Dynamiq Knowledge, and human-in-the-loop nodes become Dynamiq approvals.
