In short

Glean is a closed platform for enterprise search, an AI assistant and agents, built on a hybrid search index and Enterprise Graph across 275+ connectors that mirror source permissions, with a Model Hub of 40+ models, a hosted MCP server and per-seat pricing. It runs as single-tenant SaaS or as a tenant Glean operates inside your own GCP or AWS account. Dynamiq is a governed platform for chat, voice and workflow agents with an Apache-2.0 SDK, Knowledge Bases with permission-aware retrieval, AI Coworker in the browser, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram, and self-hosting on any cloud or on-prem. Organizations whose first need is search across every app fit Glean; teams that want assistants and agents that act on company knowledge inside their own perimeter fit Dynamiq.

Best for

DynamiqEnterprises in regulated industries that need chat, voice and workflow agents on one governed stack, deployed inside their own environment.

GleanEnterprises that want one AI assistant and search experience for every employee, grounded in a permission-aware index of company apps, with agents built on the same context, per Glean's positioning.

Deployment options

DynamiqDynamiq Cloud, or self-hosted on your AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, Red Hat OpenShift or any Kubernetes 1.32+ cluster, or on-prem. Fully isolated or air-gapped setups are delivered with our engineers.

GleanGlean Hosted, a single-tenant SaaS in multiple GCP and AWS regions, or Customer Hosted (formerly Cloud-Prem), a tenant Glean deploys and operates as a managed service inside your own GCP project or AWS account, per its docs.

Self-hosted or on-prem

DynamiqYes. Self-hosted on your cloud or on-prem, or Dynamiq Cloud; both run the same engine.

GleanNo on-premises option is documented. Customer Hosted runs in your GCP or AWS account, but Glean calls it not a traditional self-hosted model: Glean handles upgrades, patching and monitoring, keeps support access, and does not support customers deploying or patching its services.

Isolated environments

DynamiqFully isolated and air-gapped environments are delivered with our engineers.

GleanNot documented. In both models Glean keeps support access, and a Customer Hosted build on AWS pulls container images and control-plane bootstrap secrets from Glean's central AWS account, per its AWS deployment guide.

License and source code

DynamiqThe Python SDK is open source under Apache-2.0 (github.com/dynamiq-ai/dynamiq), and the visual canvas runs on the same engine. The platform around it is not open source.

GleanClosed platform. Glean publishes API clients in Python, TypeScript, Java and Go, a Web SDK and an Indexing SDK for building on it, per its developer site.

Model choice

Dynamiq29 model providers in the SDK, the most-used models behind one OpenAI-compatible AI Gateway endpoint, plus open models served on vLLM and LoRA fine-tuning.

GleanA Model Hub of 40+ open and proprietary models: OpenAI GPT models through Azure or OpenAI, Gemini through Vertex AI, Claude through Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock or Anthropic, Amazon Nova, and open models such as Nemotron 3 Ultra. Glean's Universal Model Key adds auto routing (beta); with your own keys, Vertex AI is limited to GCP-based deployments and Amazon Bedrock to AWS, per its docs.

Agent types (chat, voice, workflow)

DynamiqChat, inbound voice and workflow agents on one engine. AI Coworker works with its own cloud sandbox computer, in the browser, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram; Voice Agents answer inbound calls; Agent Builder runs workflow agents.

GleanGlean Assistant for chat, with real-time voice in the app, and Glean Agents: workflow agents with branching and loops, autonomous Auto Mode agents, sub-agents and triggers. Independent agents are in beta and the Glean Tau desktop workspace is coming soon, per its August 2026 launch. No phone-line voice agent product is described.

Enterprise search and knowledge

DynamiqKnowledge Bases built from uploads, websites and selected files and pages synced from Google Drive, Notion, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box and Confluence, re-synced in the background. Permission syncing on Google Drive and Confluence sources enforces source permissions at retrieval time; agents retrieve with hybrid search, metadata filters and optional knowledge graphs.

GleanIts core product: a hybrid search index and Enterprise Graph across connected apps, with source permissions inherited and enforced, content and permission changes synced in real time, results personalized by role, and people and expert search, per its search and connectors pages.

Developer surface

DynamiqAgent Builder pairs a visual canvas with the open-source Python SDK on one engine, with Choice and rules nodes, workflows generated from a prompt, and versions with rollback.

GleanA no-code Agent Builder, conversational or drag-and-drop, with Auto Mode, drafts, versioning and rollback; Search, Chat, Agents and Indexing APIs with clients in Python, TypeScript, Java and Go; a Web SDK; and a hosted MCP server that brings Glean search, chat and agents into ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP hosts.

Governance (guardrails, approvals, SSO)

DynamiqGuardrails that detect PII and prompt injection, policy detection, validators and approvals with editable fields on any tool step, on every plan; SSO (OIDC with Okta and Microsoft Entra ID) on Enterprise.

GleanSSO is mandatory (OIDC or SAML), agents check source permissions on every read and write, write tools pause for confirmation in the web app, admins set agent sharing rules, Agent Access Policies are in beta, and audit events stream to a SIEM. AI security models for prompt injection, malicious code and harmful content come with Glean Protect+, licensed site-wide for an annual fee.

Evals and observability

DynamiqEvals with datasets built from traces, LLM-as-a-judge, predefined and code metrics, and real-time evaluations on live deployments; traces with cost and latency per node, monitoring, and an AI agent that surfaces issues from production traces.

GleanDebug and trace views for every agent run, with inputs, tool calls, model decisions and outputs; insights into adoption, error rates, feedback and ROI for agents; and lifecycle guidance for testing agents against golden test sets before launch.

Integrations

Dynamiq2,100+ app integrations and 11,800+ actions, plus MCP servers and per-user connections.

Glean275+ native and MCP-based connectors, per its connectors page, plus native read and write actions, custom actions from OpenAPI specs, an Indexing SDK for custom sources, and a growing library of MCP server templates.

Compliance

DynamiqSOC 2 and CASA Tier 2, with a BAA for HIPAA workloads and a DPA under GDPR.

GleanSOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, GDPR and TX-RAMP Level 2, per its homepage; zero LLM data retention and encryption in transit and at rest are part of Glean Core Suite.

Delivery help (engineers)

DynamiqForward-deployed engineers run a bootcamp in your environment, ship the first production agent with your team, then hand over.

GleanGlean describes its platform as deployable without the burden of heavy professional services; deployment and adoption help comes through the Glean Partner Network, launched in August 2026, whose partners hold more than 2,000 accreditations across sales, technical and delivery work.

Pricing model

DynamiqFree to start ($0), and Enterprise with custom pricing. Available on AWS Marketplace, Microsoft Azure Marketplace and IBM Marketplace.

GleanNo public price list. Per-user, per-month seats: Glean Core Suite adds model usage on an upfront commit at provider API rates plus a management fee, and Enterprise Flex adds a pooled allowance of FlexCredits for agents, APIs and premium models. Seats and credits cost less when you host Glean in your own cloud or bring your own model keys, per its docs.

Choose Dynamiq when

  • Your perimeter, your operations: self-host on your AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, OpenShift or any Kubernetes 1.32+ cluster, or on-prem, operated by your team, with isolated setups delivered with our engineers. Glean's own-cloud option covers GCP and AWS and stays operated by Glean.
  • Agents that act as well as answer: AI Coworker works with its own cloud sandbox computer in the browser, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram, with personal or organization-wide connections to your apps, and deployed agents can ask each end user to connect their own account.
  • Workflow agents in Agent Builder, on a visual canvas or in the open-source Python SDK under Apache-2.0, with approvals on any tool step, guardrails that detect PII and prompt injection, and real-time evaluations on live deployments.
  • Voice Agents answer inbound calls on the same engine, and forward-deployed engineers ship the first production agent with your team, then hand over.

Choose Glean when

  • Company-wide search is the main job: one permission-aware index and Enterprise Graph across 275+ connectors, with real-time sync of content and permissions, personalized results and people search.
  • An assistant for every employee, in browser, desktop and mobile apps and inside Slack and Microsoft Teams, licensed per seat and fully managed by Glean, even when it runs in your own GCP or AWS account.
  • Company context inside other AI tools: Glean's hosted MCP server brings its search, chat and agents into ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP hosts, and its AI Gateway, in beta, governs model and tool traffic across them.

Moving from Glean

Agents built in Glean's Agent Builder are rebuilt as agents and workflows in Dynamiq's Agent Builder, on the canvas or in the Python SDK, starting from the same instructions, steps and model choices. Content Glean indexes from Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Box, Dropbox, Notion and Confluence syncs into Dynamiq Knowledge Bases, with permission syncing on Google Drive and Confluence; other apps connect as Dynamiq integrations or MCP servers, and write steps that needed confirmation in Glean become Dynamiq approval steps. Teams that keep Glean for company-wide search can call its Search or Chat API from a Dynamiq workflow.

Questions and answers

Can Dynamiq replace Glean?

In part. Dynamiq replaces Glean where the goal is an assistant and agents over company knowledge that run inside your own perimeter and take action: AI Coworker, workflow agents with approvals, and Knowledge Bases with permission-aware retrieval, self-hosted on any cloud or on-prem. For search across every app in the company, with 275+ connectors and real-time permission sync, Glean is the stronger choice, and the two can run side by side.

Can Glean run in our own cloud or on-prem?

In your own cloud, on GCP or AWS: Glean's Customer Hosted model deploys a tenant that Glean operates as a managed service, keeping upgrades, patching, monitoring and support access. No on-premises or Azure option is documented. Dynamiq self-hosts on AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, Red Hat OpenShift or any Kubernetes 1.32+ cluster, or on-prem.

Does Dynamiq enforce source permissions the way Glean does?

For Google Drive and Confluence sources, yes: Dynamiq's permission syncing enforces each file's or page's permissions at retrieval time, so a user only gets content they can open in the source. Glean inherits and enforces source permissions across its connectors and syncs permission changes in real time, which matters most when the goal is one index over every app.

Is Glean open source?

No. Glean's platform is closed; it publishes API clients, a Web SDK and an Indexing SDK for building on it. Dynamiq's Python SDK is open source under Apache-2.0; the Dynamiq platform is not.

How is Glean priced compared with Dynamiq?

Glean publishes no price list. It licenses per-user, per-month seats, with model usage bought on an upfront commit under Glean Core Suite or drawn from pooled FlexCredits under Enterprise Flex, per its docs. Dynamiq offers a free plan to start and custom Enterprise pricing. Available on AWS Marketplace, Microsoft Azure Marketplace and IBM Marketplace.
