SIP trunking

A connection between a phone network and a voice application over the internet using the Session Initiation Protocol, not analog lines.

SIP trunking carries phone calls over the internet using the Session Initiation Protocol, connecting a phone number at a carrier to an application, here, a voice agent, instead of a physical phone line. The carrier relationship, the phone numbers and the rates all stay exactly what they already were; only where the call is answered changes.

A regulated contact center's phone line is often the one channel its customers actually use, and connecting a voice agent has to work with the numbers and carriers the institution already has, not force a number migration or a new carrier relationship just to add an agent.

A contact center points its existing carrier trunk's origination at a voice agent, and customers keep calling the exact same numbers they always have, with no number to relearn.

In Dynamiq, phone numbers are not sold by Dynamiq. Connect numbers you already own at a SIP provider by pointing that provider's trunk origination at the SIP URI a deployed voice agent provides, with optional digest authentication for providers that require it. Voice agents answer inbound calls; they do not place outbound calls.
