Computer use agent
A computer use agent interacts with software visually and by input, the same way a person does, rather than through a programmatic interface. It is the fallback for systems that were never built with an API: a legacy portal, a form-driven internal tool, a vendor site that only offers a human interface.
Regulated back offices often run on exactly these systems, decades old, no API, still load-bearing. A computer use agent is frequently the only automation path available, which makes containing what it can reach as important as what it can accomplish.
An agent logs into an older claims portal, fills out a form field by field, submits it, and downloads the confirmation page, one step at a time, the way an analyst would.
In Dynamiq, browser automation is a tool that drives a real remote browser from natural-language instructions: navigate to a page, act on it, extract data from it, or list what is on it. A separate desktop tool gives full graphical control beyond the browser. Both run inside an isolated agent sandbox, never against production infrastructure directly.
