Approval gate

A control on a specific workflow step that pauses execution until a person approves, edits or rejects it, every time that step runs.

An approval gate is a hard, platform-enforced stop on one node, not a request the agent can choose to skip. Every time execution reaches that node, the run pauses, a reviewer sees exactly what is about to happen, and nothing proceeds until they approve, edit an allowed field, or reject it with feedback.

Some actions in a regulated process, sending money, filing a report, emailing a customer, should never execute unattended, no matter how confident the agent is. An approval gate is how that rule is enforced by the system itself rather than left to a prompt instruction.

Before a drafted client report is delivered, a reviewer sees the exact payload that would be sent, approves it as written, edits one allowed field, or rejects it with a note that flows back into the agent's next attempt.

In Dynamiq, execution approval is enabled per node with a message template rendered from the node's own input, an optional list of fields a reviewer may edit, and a timeout after which the run checkpoints and waits, sometimes minutes, sometimes days, until a reply arrives. The decision, and any feedback, becomes part of the run's trace.
