Agentic workflow
An agentic workflow mixes deterministic steps, a database lookup, a validation, a branch, with at least one agent step that plans and acts rather than following instructions written in advance for every case. The result is a process with the structure a regulated organization needs and the adaptability a purely scripted automation cannot offer.
Traditional automation handles the predictable parts of a process well but breaks the moment a case does not fit the script. An agentic workflow keeps the fixed checkpoints a regulated process requires, intake, validation, sign-off, while letting the agent step handle the judgement calls in between.
A document review workflow has fixed steps for intake and filing, with an agent step in the middle that reads a contract and decides which clauses need a closer look from a reviewer.
In Dynamiq, the workflow canvas mixes deterministic nodes, such as choice, map and validator nodes, with agent nodes in a single graph, versioned on every save. Describe the workflow in plain language to get a first draft instead of a blank canvas, and every run of the finished workflow is traced end to end.
