In short

Sana, part of Workday since November 2025, gives every employee an AI assistant with no-code agents, workflows and enterprise search across 100+ apps, plus Sana Learn. If you need agents inside your products and operations, voice agents, evaluations on live traffic or deployment in your own environment with engineers who build with you, compare Dynamiq; Dify and Langflow suit builders who want open or source-available code, and n8n suits automation-heavy teams.

Sana built an AI-first way to search, organize and learn from company knowledge. It has grown well beyond search: Sana now offers no-code agents, multi-step workflows on a schedule or trigger, enterprise search across 100+ apps, meeting notes, and Sana Learn for training content. In November 2025 Sana became part of Workday, and it continues to work across other systems as well as inside Workday.

For teams whose goal is trusted answers and automated knowledge work for every employee, Sana is a strong choice. If your roadmap includes agents inside customer-facing products or back-office operations, voice, evaluations on live traffic, or deployment in your own environment, you will want to compare platforms built for building and running agents. This guide does that as of September 2026, using each vendor's own pages, listed at the end.

Flowise, which earlier versions of this guide listed, reached end of life on August 31, 2026; see [below](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/post/best-sana-alternatives-for-ai-knowledge-workflow-automation#what-happened-to-flowise).

## What to look for in a Sana alternative

1. **Agentic orchestration.** Moving from answers to execution takes planning, tool use, memory, guardrails and human approvals at the steps that matter.
2. **Knowledge and RAG depth.** Evaluate ingestion, chunking and embeddings, retrieval that respects each user's permissions, source governance and citations, not only the connector list.
3. **Evaluations and observability.** Test sets, scoring with an LLM judge, evaluations on live traffic, and traces with per-step latency and cost keep quality high and spend predictable.
4. **Deployment flexibility.** Managed SaaS is efficient, but many teams need a private VPC, on-prem Kubernetes or an isolated network for sensitive data.

## Top Sana alternatives

As a baseline, Sana's strengths are real: semantic search that understands concepts rather than keywords, knowledge verification settings, content authoring in Sana Learn, no-code agents and workflows, SSO and SCIM, and a policy that it does not use customer data to train models. Its pricing page lists custom Enterprise pricing. Here is how the alternatives compare.

### Zapier

Zapier is the no-code automation option, connecting 9,000+ apps. Zapier Agents draw on files and app knowledge sources, call other agents and pause for approvals, and chatbots embed as a widget. It runs only in Zapier's cloud, hosted on AWS in the United States, and we found no evaluation datasets or scoring for agents in its documentation. For deep RAG and production telemetry, you will add tooling or pick an agent platform.

### n8n

n8n is fair-code workflow automation with AI built in: an AI Agent node with tools and sub-agents, n8n Agents in preview since September 2026, knowledge bases on n8n Cloud, a Guardrails node, human approval before an agent runs a chosen tool, and quick and metric-based evaluations. It suits teams that want Zapier-style automation with self-hosting, under a Sustainable Use License that limits use to internal business, non-commercial or personal purposes.

### Langflow

Langflow is an MIT licensed, Python-based builder for agents and RAG applications, with knowledge bases on vector databases such as Chroma, OpenSearch or pgvector, a Guardrails component, human-in-the-loop checkpoints and built-in traces. It runs as a desktop app, in Docker or on Kubernetes. Plan for gaps around built-in evaluations and enterprise SSO, which are not in open-source Langflow.

### Dify

Dify is a visual platform for agentic workflows, chat apps and agents, with Knowledge Pipelines that turn files, websites and drives into knowledge bases, and a large plugin marketplace. Dify Enterprise runs in a VPC, on-prem or air-gapped. Its modified Apache License bars multi-tenant hosting without written permission, and we found no built-in evaluation suite in its docs.

### Microsoft Copilot Studio

Within Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio builds agents and workflows for Teams, Microsoft 365 Copilot and websites, with multi-agent orchestration, OpenAI and Anthropic models, agent evaluations and a Microsoft Entra Agent ID for each agent. The trade-off is hosting: it runs only as a Microsoft cloud service. If your stack is standardized on Microsoft, it is the quickest path to internal agents.

### Dynamiq

Dynamiq is a platform for chat, voice and workflow agents, with guardrails, evals and observability on the same engine, deployed in Dynamiq Cloud or inside your own environment. The agent engine is an open-source Python SDK under Apache-2.0; the platform around it is not open source.

- [**Agent Builder**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/agents): a visual canvas and the open-source Python SDK on one engine, with Choice and rules nodes, approvals with editable fields on any tool step, workflows generated from a prompt, and versions with rollback.
- [**AI Coworker**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/chat): an agent with its own cloud sandbox computer (Linux shell, files, browser automation and live web previews), connectors, a skills library, scheduled tasks and subagents, in the browser and in Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram.
- [**Voice Agents**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/voice-agents): inbound calls over WebRTC, SIP and WebSocket, with per-turn latency measurement and simulations scored by an LLM judge.
- **Agentic memory**: session memory scoped by user and session, with recent, relevant or both retrieval, and long-term memory where the agent itself decides when to save and recall durable, user-scoped facts through remember and recall tools, updating an existing fact rather than saving a near duplicate.
- [**Knowledge**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/knowledge-rag): ingestion pipelines, permission-aware retrieval filters, knowledge graphs, and document parsing and extraction.
- [**Integrations**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/integrations): 2,100+ app integrations and 11,800+ actions, plus MCP servers and per-user connections.
- [**Models and AI Gateway**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/models): 29 model providers in the SDK and the most-used models behind one OpenAI-compatible AI Gateway endpoint, plus open models served on vLLM and LoRA fine-tuning.
- [**Guardrails and approvals**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/guardrails): detect PII and prompt injection, with policy detection, validators and execution approvals.
- [**Evals**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/evaluations) and [**observability**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/observability): datasets built from traces, LLM-as-a-judge, predefined and code metrics, and real-time evaluations on live deployments; traces with cost and latency per node, monitoring, and an AI agent that surfaces issues from production traces.
- [**Deployment**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/product/deployments): Dynamiq Cloud, or self-hosted on AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, Red Hat OpenShift or any Kubernetes cluster, or on-prem, with self-hosting on Enterprise. Fully isolated or air-gapped setups are delivered with our engineers. Available on AWS Marketplace, Microsoft Azure Marketplace and IBM Marketplace.
- **Security and compliance**: SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR. Guardrails and approvals come on every plan, and SSO (OIDC with Okta and Microsoft Entra ID) on Enterprise.
- [**Pricing**](https://www.getdynamiq.ai/pricing): free to start ($0), and Enterprise with custom pricing.
- **Forward-deployed engineers**: a bootcamp in your environment, your first production agent shipped with your team, then a handover.

### What happened to Flowise?

Flowise, a visual builder for chatbots and agents, announced on July 29, 2026 that it was winding down. Its GitHub repository was archived on August 13, and it reached end of life on August 31, 2026, with npm packages and Docker images marked deprecated. It is not a fit for new projects.

## The bottom line: picking the right platform

Sana is a strong choice for a company-wide AI assistant and for AI-assisted learning, especially for organizations already on Workday. If your roadmap includes agents inside products and operations, voice, RAG with permission-aware retrieval across many sources, evaluations on live traffic, or deployment in your own environment, the alternatives above, and Dynamiq in particular, are built for that job.
